American rapper, record producer, and business mogul Shawn Corey Carter, known by his stage name Jay Z, is reportedly on the verge of expanding his business empire by investing in the Nigerian music industry.

Woman ‘raped into confessing husband’s murder’ in Mexico

Having just lost her husband, Yecenia Armenta could never have imagined her life could get worse.

But the then 39-year-old had no idea what lay ahead of her after she was bundled into a police car and charged with her husband’s murder.

It was after her arrest that things took a turn for the worse, with the stay-at-home mother claiming she was tortured and raped before being forced to sign a confession to a crime she says she didn’t commit.

Ms Armenta was arrested in July 2012 as she drove relatives to the Culiacan International Airport.
After being blindfolded she was bundled into a police car and driven away.

Obama touts progress against ISIS, sets low expectations for Russian cooperation

President Obama used a press conference Tuesday at the Paris climate summit to once again claim progress in the U.S.-led coalition’s campaign against the Islamic State, while also setting low near-term expectations for gaining Russian President Vladimir Putin's full cooperation in the fight.
The president, speaking before he departs the climate summit to return to Washington, said “it is possible” over the next several months that there will be "a shift in calculation in the Russians and a recognition that it's time to bring the civil war in Syria to a close."
But he quickly tempered that prediction by acknowledging Russia is hitting Syrian opposition targets, some of whom are supported by the U.S.
“I don’t expect you’re going to see a 180 turn on their strategy over the next several weeks,” Obama said.
The president said the U.S. shouldn’t be under any “illusions” that Russia will start “hitting only ISIL targets.”
Obama said that wasn’t happening before, and, “It’s not going to be happening in the next several weeks.”
The comments demonstrate the potentially slow and plodding path ahead toward resolving the Syrian civil war.
While Russia opposes the Islamic State – which claimed credit for bringing down a Russian flight over Egypt – Moscow also supports Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad.

FIFA Writes Touching Letter To Enyimba

The interim president of FIFA, Issa Hayatou has congratulated Enyimba Football Club of Aba for winning the Nigerian Professional Football League for a record seventh time.

In a letter to the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), Hayatou acknowledged Enyimba’s contribution to world football.

“It gives me great pleasure to send my heartfelt congratulations to Enyimba and their indomitable team on this great achievement.”

Liverpool, Man City, Arsenal, others splash out £130m on agents fees

Premier League clubs splashed out almost £130 million ($195 million, 185 million euros) on agents’ fees last year in a £15 million increase on the previous 12 months.

Liverpool spent the most of any club as they paid out £14.3 million to the sport’s middle men over the last two transfer windows, according to figures released by the Premier League on Monday.
The second highest spenders were Manchester United (£13.8m), followed by local rivals Manchester City (£12.4m) with the total reaching £129.86 million for the year ending September 30.
Chelsea and Arsenal both spent £11.9 million, while at the other end of the scale newcomers Watford paid £1.6 million.
