Couye was at the restaurant when attackers barged in.
"They started firing at the tables," he said. "They walked through the hotel door and started to shoot at everybody. Then they returned to the restaurant and closed its doors."
He hurriedly evacuated employees through an exit door as chaos erupted.
"One of the attackers was yelling 'Allahu akbar!' " he said.
"These people started shooting. They were shooting at everybody without asking a single question. They were shooting at anything that moved."
The United Nations said two or three gunmen attacked the hotel.

New Zealand helicopter crash: two Australians and four Britons among seven killed

Police say none of seven people on board aircraft are believed to have survived, with rescue teams unable to immediately reach wreckage in crevasse
Seven people, including four British and two Australian holidaymakers, died in a helicopter crash at a popular tourist attraction on New Zealand’s South Island on Saturday.
Bad weather conditions meant that rescuers struggled to recover the bodies of the pilot and his six passengers from the wreckage of the aircraft, which went down in challenging and dangerous terrain high on the island’s Fox glacier. Other tourists were in the area at the time, many of them also being ferried in helicopters.

EXCLUSIVE: How I Inspired Other Dancers - Kaffy

EXCLUSIVE: How I Inspired Other Dancers - Kaffy

Kaffy is a Nigerian dancer, choreographer, dance instructor and fitness coach. She is the founder and owner of Imagneto Dance Company and is best known for breaking the Guinness World Records for the Longest Dance Party at the Nokia Silverbird Danceathon in 2006. She has been a judge and mentor on several dance and music reality shows including MTN Project Fame. In this interview with williamz, she talked about her latest gig as a judge on TV show Dance with Peter, among other things.

Tell us more about Dance with Peter?
Dance with Peter to me is like a dream come true because I would have done it on my own but when Peter walked up to me and mentioned it, then we worked on it together. We embarked on the project because I have noticed that in Nigeria people like to take all the glory to themselves forgetting those that assisted them, so instead of allowing Peter to do his own thing while I do mine, I decided to give it more value by forming a strong team to make it a success.

Would you say dancing has given you so much fame?
I just had the faith that whatever I decided to become in life would be important to me and the people around me. And it’s the importance to people around me that has made me famous. It was not because I tried to be popular but because I communicate or try to maintain a direct contact with people who practically do what I have done with them. It was not a conscious effort to be the most popular girl in town but it was part of my destiny. From when I was a child, I have always represented my school at debates, Red Cross, jet club to inter-house sports. So, it’s nature that is taking its own course in my life.

ROMAN ABRAMOVICH is lining up an overhaul at Chelsea — and plans to build a new team around Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Stamford Bridge supremo is prepared to make Real Madrid an offer they cannot refuse for the Portuguese superstar. And he is willing to sell Eden Hazard, Nemanja Matic and Oscar to fund the sensational move.

Seven defeats in their opening twelve games have seen the Blues flop to 16th spot in the Premier League.

And reports in Spain suggest Abramovich sees the three-time Ballon d’Or winner — who has been strongly linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain — as the man to revitalise the faltering champions.

The Blues’ nightmare start has led to speculation boss Jose Mourinho could soon be shown the door.

Ronaldo, 30, played under Mourinho in Madrid, but Abramovich will push ahead with the deal regardless of whether the Portuguese coach is still at the club.

My lesbian story— Yvonne Nelson

My lesbian story— Yvonne Nelson

My interview with top Ghanaian actress – Yvonne Nelson-was a revelation in so many ways. Of the leading Nollywood stars, Yvonne is among those I had not had a close relationship with.

I had watched her from afar, seen countless number of her movies and had always thought she was a great and talented actress – someone who combined poise, beauty and style. I had also heard of some unsavory things ascribed to her – the rumors of sexual orientation which some say verged between pure lesbianism and bi-sexualism – all manner of shenanigans that had been whispered and published about her.

Some years ago, she came out with a movie, “Heart of Men”, in which she seemed to have appeared in frontal nudity– a development that set off a firestorm of protest among Nollywood lovers –with many condemning the exploitation of graphic sexual images to promote and sell movies – which was a deviation of what Nollywood had always been seen to represent: a family friendly entertainment medium.
